Hello all. This is such a great Forum - thanks to Steve for making it happen; the friendly tone and excellent advice here is a breath of fresh air and a testament, I believe, to the clarity of Steve's tips and generosity in sharing his knowledge.
I have just purchased the Peak Designs Camera Slide strap and the thought occurred that since the camera will be carried at my back, lcd screen up and exposed as I wander about through the forest, should I get some screen protection for it?
Or am I being needlessly paranoid??
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Alex

LCD protectors are like UV filters and I'm sure you'll get a LOT of varying opinions. Personally, I don't use one, never have - and have never had a scratch / break. YMMV

Thanks Steve, and Gordon. You're right about the varying opinions! My inclination is to carry on without a protector as the most likely screen encounters will be with leaves and branches which won't scratch the surface, unless they are encrusted with sand.

My Nikon D70S D90 and D7000 came with clip-on protectors. My D7100 and D7500 came without them, neither did my most recent Z6. Someone in the know a few years ago said that they use extremely hard and strong glass for those screens now. I haven't used screen protectors on any of my Nikons that did not come with them and I haven't had a scratch or a break on a screen yet.

Again, thanks Clippy, Casey, Charles and Rassie . So far, the only 'damage' to my lcd screen is from my greasy nose pressing against it as I peer through the viewfinder and this is easily cleaned up!
I don't use the screen much...only for checking menus and, I'm ashamed to say, for dazzling my friends with it's clarity and articulation ability......
