While watching a trio of Great Blue Heron nestlings impatiently waiting in their nest for their parents to bring them food, a Raven flew over head. The juveniles were immediately aware of the Raven and watched as the corvid flew past. These three images show the birds looking to their left as the Raven approached, straight up as the Raven flew over them, and to their right after the Raven passed by. The Raven did not seem particularly interested in the heron chicks, and my impression is that the chicks were simply too big for the Raven to attack at this stage. I like the middle photo best, but I thought the series really showed how carefully the nestlings kept their eyes on the Raven.
