To happy owners of Sony 600mm f4

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I’m buying a Sony 600mm f4, but can’t decide which retailer (fear of getting an open box item passed off as NEW). For those of you who bought your 600mm, where did you buy yours and why? Would Sony online store be the safest place to go? I live in the US.

Mike’s camera in Denver. Been buying there for 22 years and never had an issue. I have not lived in Colorado for almost 20 years but I have no reason to change. service is super friendly and they manage to find stuff for me even when it’s not easy (like the 600 f;4 which was on allocation at the time).

B&H is reliable and I see Open Box lenses for sale so if you order new it should be new.

If you get their PayBoo card they pay the tax and shipping is free 2 day.

I bought mine from Adorama.

Beautiful pictures in your gallery.

If you are going to buy a lens that expensive, unless you live in a state without sales tax, why not get the BH PayBoo card and save the sales tax. You need to be careful in how you use it as there interest rate is high and fees expensive. If you aren't financing it that's over a $1,000 savings in most states. BH is quite reputable.

Call my buddy George at ProCam (Livonia, MI or Ann Arbor MI). Tell him I sent ya and he'll get you set up. GREAT company to work with - go try 600 F/4 and 400 2.8 from them.
Thank you Steve for the recommendation and by the way, I learned a lot from your books - always clear and to the point. Looking forward to see a new book on a1 ii/ a9iii.

Allen's Camera in Levittown, PA is the best in the country for a purchase like this. Ask for Brandon and tell him I sent you.
I would definitely second Allen's Camera in Pa. . Brandon and the rest of the folks at the store are terrific. He gives honest value on trade ins and is terrific to work with. Tell him Stan sent you as well!
