Last week I purchased a Nikon 500mm F/4G ED VR from a gentleman on another forum.

Yesterday I was able to take the lens out for a "test drive" at a local park (which has numerous birds that don't mind you getting close). I am extremely pleased with the level of sharpness and background blur produced by this lens, and the overall user experience is something far beyond anything I've personally ever used. It is an absolute pleasure to shoot with!! This is my first big prime, and I'm afraid I may be ruined for lower-end glass now. (Keep in mind, these are all significantly downsized images. The level of detail in the full resolution versions is stunning!) I am in love!

These were all shot with my Nikon D500...

Yup, nothing like the image in the viewfinder while looking through quality fast glass. Nice images, I really like the GBH series!

Thank you! That GBH was a very patient test subject. I got several hundred photos of him over the course of an hour or so.
