These 3 Great Egrets were huddled in a protected cove. This was the day after the remnants of Hurricane Helene moved through Northern Kentucky and SW. Ohio. It was still gusty winds but the cove was protected and with it full of geese, mallards, herons and egrets, it seemed to be the place were all the cool kids were hunkering down to ride out the storm. Egrets rarely overwinter in our area. These will be moving to warmer climates in the near future.
