Tripod Foot

I am looking to buy a Sigma 100-400 f 5-6.3 lens for my D 500. I'm concerned with the weight and length of the lens and not having a tripod foot. I have found several aftermarket tripod mounts with mostly good reviews, but some bad. Any thoughts or experiences with or without the foot? Thanks for your help.

Manfrotto (and others) do a mount where you don't need a foot on the lens.

Telephoto Lens Support
