Tufted Duck Pair In Black and White

This is a little different for me messing about with layers and filters. I had this shot of a pair of Tufted Ducks in flight on a very dull Lancashire day a few years ago. It seemed to me a black and white conversation would work so I did this using Nik SilverEfex on a background layer copy. Then as an extra tweak erased the eyes on the background copy to expose the bright yellow of the eyes to add a very small splash of colour. Not sure if it really works or looks a bit naff…

Small enough that it’s not naff, but I’m also, it sure it adds a lot. Nice picture, though!
