While driving through the Painted Desert/Petrified Forest, we saw this beautiful "feature" that just requires that one stop and capture a few views. These two shots were taken about 30 minutes apart from a similar, but not identical point of view. I have cropped them independently to cover a similar "footprint"/ The color shot is woth the D850 while the B&W shot is with a 590nm IR Converted D650. I tend to like both, but for different reasons.

Nice job, Joe. Like them both as well. Curious about the selection of shutter speed on the second?
I was shooting from a slow moving car when there were no pullouts and neglected to change shutter speed when we stopped. It was really bright so ISO stayed reasonable. In other words, operator error.

I like BW much more. THe colour version looks for me to have blue-purple tint.
Great BW processing!
I understand your comment on color. I do tend to shoot in Camera Vivid as my color vision is not the best and it makes things look better to me. That said, this is the Painted Desert and that formation was pink, red, purple and blue with a blue cloudless, dry air sky so no haze that day. Thanks for the feedback. It is always appreciated.
