Well, almost 300,000 actuations on this D500. This is what it looks like when the shutter finally goes SPROING!

Ouch! Still, you got a lot more shots from it than the 200,000 rating.
How much does a shutter replacement cost, assuming that that's what you are going to do?

Woodyg3 that is sad yet very good going on cameras part.
Did shutter warn you that it was dying?
In Australia it cost about $600 to have shutter replace as long as sensor is fine.
Image is autistic.

I'll let you know the cost when I find out. Yes, I'll be getting it repaired.

Yes, I do hope the sensor is still in good shape. I hope it's cheaper in the US! :)

That camera earned it's keep. Not sure I'd get it repaired since, like a car, it may now begin a series of nickel and dime issues -- battery door, sensor, various button and wheel contacts, LCD screens -- there are a lot of things that can go wrong on a heavily used camera.

Lucky you - my shutter bit the dust on the last two days on my trip to Peru. Luckily we were done with the Amazon and Machu Picchu and only had Cusco to visit. However, it only had ~180,000 actuations. I chalked it up to my heavy finger on the shutter (shoot birds) as well as trips to Antarctica, the Arctic and Pategonia prior to the Peruvian Amazon. It cost me ~$300 to fix it, but took a very very long time.

Shutter counts are useless, most cameras in my experience will do way more than Nikon say. maybe they give a very low count just to keep sales rocking along. I only paid 800 pounds sterling for my D500 with 30k on it so when it dies I will hunt down another bargain. There's a guy here (Bulgaria) that has 3 D7200 all of which are over 300000.
