First time trying something like this, probably done to death but it was good for me, I learnt a lot... leave the UWA in the bag for one! The colour is morning and the B&W is the afternoon. Colours were quite different for the either end of the day hence the afternoon done in B&W. The morning I overexposed a little which was a bummer but I'll try again I guess.

Thank you all, agree that the colour one is a better angle comparatively. I think there's a between that will work well possibly, or just a touch higher tripod on the first.

Very nice shots ruley74 - definitely the colour one for me its got more drama to it and gives a much better perspective of just how big the pier is - it would be a great shot to nail that second image with the Sun setting or rising dead centre at the end

Goes to show how we all look at things differently. I really like the foreground rocks, streaks of distant light through the pilings and sense of depth from the B&W image but do love the colors on the water in the second image. They're both great images in different ways.

P.S. I'd also say the receding tunnel effect is stronger due to the angle in the second image as the far 'window' of light gets framed in on all sides including the top which doesn't happen the same way in the B&W image. They're both really cool!

Dean - two images, not to be compared, methinks! Like the lead-in rocks in #1; also slowish SS it seems. BG window a bit soft, but the emphasis is in the rocks and leading pillars.
Love #2 - also not a B&W aficionado! Like the smooth water and the colour; the reds off the pillars are NICE! A pleasing overall ambience. Not the Spit?

Thanks Callie, agreed they are different and yep the tripod height about 3-4 foot higher on the B&W. Also for the B&W it was really choppy as the wind was strong in the arvo, so that made the water quite different. It was Shorncliffe Pier
