It's been pretty dismal and cold in the MW, so I was surprised to see a handful of males hanging out in the trees, albeit puffed up in the 20-degree weather. Eastern Bluebirds usually don't hang around in the winter, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Thanks Karen, I'll have to run over to Menards and buy some meal worms! Do you have suggestions on what type of feeders are best and will they eat frozen worms? A simple plate or something else? By the exposure, you can see how dark and dreadful this place is... I haven't been out much as unfortunately I have a herniated cervical disk, so seeing these little guys was therapeutic. If the weather cooperates and I am feeling well enough, perhaps I'll be fortunate enough to chase down some Snowy's later this week.
