Using the SB-800 Speedlite with a remote trigger

Years ago i purchased what was then the top of the range SB-800 Speedlite for Nikon D40. Now, during this pandemic, i find myself restricted to the house.
Can anyone tell me will the speedlite work with a 2.4g wireless trigger?

I use SB800s and an SB600 with wireless triggers all the time. I don't know what triggers you're using but the Yonguo flash triggers I use work fine and convey all the zoom and flash power settings including exposure compensation to the older Nikon flash heads just fine.

I used 2x SB800s and an SB900 with Nikon CLS indoors and close range outdoors with good results. I also used a cheap ebay radio trigger/receivers on them all, manually setting them. Switched to Godox trigger and receivers ad got good results with remote changing of the settings.
Now still have the Nikon flashguns but am going over to Godox flashes too. My V860ii does all that an SB910/SB900 can do at under half the price.
