This guy is a male Variegated Fairy Wren and as can be seen is quite colourful. They are found across the Australian Continent: however far more numerous on the East Coast. A very busy little bird and great to watch as they weave and dive through low shrubbery. 13 - 14 cm (5 - 5.5 inches)

Dan, Oz has 9 Fairy-Wrens, 2 Emu-Wrens, and 9 Grass-Wrens spread over the Continent. Other than the Black Grass-Wren they are all very similar in shape & size. Our Scrubwrens and Heathwrens are different again. And yep they are a beautiful bird. Having said that I would love someday to get up to your part of the world and try my hand at photographing. your wildlife.
