Warbler Identification?

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Does anyone know if this is a Black-throated Green Warbler or a Townsend's Warbler?

I'd guess that's a female or immature Black-Throated Green Warbler based on its markings(I'd expect more black on the throat for an adult male) but you also shouldn't really have Townsend's Warblers in Florida.

Check out the markings and range maps for each on the Cornell site:

Thanks DR, The yellow on it's chest threw me. We do get vagrants down here in South Florida

Yeah, the chest is what makes me think immature as it does look like some black feathers are emerging. Fair enough on the vagrants, it does happen.

Great shot either way!
