Female Wasp Spider taken in the New Forest, UK. Not a native to the UK, some escaped from a collection in the 1930s and they have slowly been colonising the south coast. The male of the species is a very small brown job who is very likely to end up on the menu if he isn't careful. One of their favourite meals are Grasshoppers.
Taken using a Nikon D4s with a Nikkor Micro 200mm f/4D IF-ED lens. No artificial lighting used, back lighting by the late evening sun.
