I received an email from ProGrade detailing vacation gear suggestions.
One comment: Memory cards are small, waterproof, and shockproof. I did not know memory cards are waterproof.. Still not convinced.

Not recommended, but in the past I’ve washed and dried an SD card left in clothing. It still worked, but I retired it from active use…

Thanks for reply. Same here, and SD survived. But this also referred to XQD and CFe series cards.

Back when CF cards were king, I remember several stories about people accidentally putting them in washing machines and they still worked perfectly afterwards. Also I believe I read about a few cameras being recovered from under water in lakes or streams and the cards were still usable.

My memory card cases will all float, a feature I hope never to need but playing it safe nonetheless.
