Ways to carry a monopod?

I'm trying to find a good way to carry my monopod (collapsed) when I'm not using it (no camera attached). The hand strap that comes with it appears weak and if I put that on a belt loop, the monopod would swing too low. But I am interested to find a way to attach it to a modular belt system like the Think Tank Photo Thin Skin Belt V3.0. I've thought about shoulder straps too, but attaching/unattaching them to the monopod is a little inconvenient. If I have a backpack on, this isn't an issue because I just stick it in the side pocket. This would be for the times when I don't have a backpack.

There is a thread on gear hacks where I posted this response. I use a tactical belt with it and pouches. Best thing I have found.

Here is the tool holder on the belt. What you don’t see is the Velcro strap that goes around the monopod. It’s in the picture of the tool in the link above. NOTE this is not the Spider Photography specific holder. It’s the tool holder. I use the PD Capture Clip and Pro Pad to carry heavier gear when walking from place to place. Z9 with 100-400 or 600pf. It stabilizes the gear and takes all weight off shoulders.

I use my Black Rapid strap while shooting. If I could adjust the length of that from the front that would be awesome. That’s the one design flaw of BR I can see.

Yes, this is what I was thinking. Where did you get the velcrow strap that goes around the monopod and how does that attach to the PD bracket? Or spider holder.

Nevermind...I looked at your other post more closely and i understand now.

I stick mine into a lightweight backpack, head down. You could also use a simple strap connected to head and foot of the monopod to wear the monopod on your back-- cross-body from shoulder to opposite hip.

Gitzo makes a monopod holster that works well for me.

That’s a good thought. I think I’ll still go with the spider since removing it requires lifting a few inches instead of the full length of the monopod. Also, I can use it on other things if needed (maybe binoculars).

PRO TIP: you can use a monopod as a walking stick when you're hiking in the woods. But when you stop for a 'nature-break', do NOT lean the tripod against the tree while relieving yourself, because you may very well walk away from it and not realize it until you're a long ways off. If you're on a trail, it's easier to backtrack—its when you're off trail that this becomes a bigger risk of loss.

I've left two behind now. I wonder if they're still there.

So I now keep a wrist firmly inserted in hand-strap when I'm doing that particular 'maneuver'.

Here is the way I carry my monopod and Wimberley MH-100; using the bag of a Benro travel tripod, on my back, cross-body from shoulder to opposite; I carry it on a backpack when I use my bike for example

I carry mymonopod in the pocket on the side of my wheeled case, or on the side of my Lens Limo. Both have provisions for that, and both are made by Think Tank. Best of luck.
