Thanks @Ralph and @Larry S. I must admit that I used the high winds yesterday to help in getting the shot, the birds are a LOT slower going into the wind especially when they are on a feeding pass.

It’s one the sharpest shots I’ve ever seen of these guys. Well done

Even with the wind assistance I still needed 1/4000 to freeze the wings.

Okie dokie….We have a species of swallows that nests under our dock here in Virginia. They have been difficult to catch on the wing. They seem to like our fishing rods for perches.
Your success has encouraged me to get serious with these beauties…. (note to @Ralph …shot w/my D500! a few years ago)

@Larry S. I am sure that a more informed/finessed approach will work for you.
But be prepared for a LOT of out of focus, near miss or totally missed shots, I have of course none of those..... I quickly delete them all.
