From The Pond At Elephant Head in Arizona. My first attempt with Nikon pre capture.

My guide had two different rattlesnakes, the smaller male is very aggressive and was striking at him so we just waited for him to do so with the pre-capture focused and ready. He is very experienced and was in no particular danger.

Nikon would have to offer pre-capture into the previous week to get me that close to one of those. Nice capture.
As far as hots go, rattlesnakes aren’t that bad. They want to be left alone.

The nice thing about them over all other venomous snakes is they tend to rattle as a warning before striking, along with their distinctive body posture.

There’s a hillside trail in LA that people walk and run all the time. State posts a rattlesnake warning sign of course, but as you use the trail you always hear rattlesnakes popping off as you go past them. You rarely see them though. It is rather amusing though as go through their home and they “welcome” you.

Always smart to steer clear of them course.

If you didn't use Precapture, do you think you would have caught this behavior so well? It really is an incredibly shot.
Thank you. In my case, I definitely would NOT have caught the action as my reaction time is simply too slow. Plus the fact that a rattlers strike can be amazingly fast.
