WHAT IS THE BEST SOFTWARE FOR RECOVERING DELETED FILES FROM SD CARD? 🤣

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I accidentally Deleted today’s photos from my SD card before the transfer. I would like to recover them and was looking for some recommendations. I guess it is something I should have on hand for future situations like today. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The card has not been used since it happens.

I use recover it and it never failed me.I had bought it one year back and it was an one time payment only unlike few other recovery tools which are subscription based

I’m a big fan of Easeus never let me down!

I've used Recuva several times and it's done the job each time, including Nikon raw files. I use the free version, it's by the same people that make CCleaner. Just be careful on the download so you don't get any extras you don't want.

Thanks for the input. I found a free recovery app called Lazesoft Mac Data Recovery and it worked fine. Recovered all the photos. Reconfigured the D500‘s second slot as a backup.🤪 I learned my lesson.

These are the types of things we can read about but no matter what we will probably experience for ourselves. Ever do a days shooting and find out you forgot to put a memory card in the camera? So that's what that red light was that blinked after every shot........

My wife and I traveled to Ireland for our 25th anniversary in 2012. The iPad was new at that point and I didn’t have the SD card reader. I considered getting it but never did. Instead I brought Several SD cards with me and planned on swapping out my SD card every few days and replace it with a new one. During the trip I waited and convinced myself that these cards are very reliable and I never swapped out the card. On the 8th and last day, we were in Belfast at the Titanic museum. I was reviewing my photos and a memory card error occurred. I lost 1000 photos. Thank god my wife was taking photos as well with a different camera. So we do have photos of the trip. I tried to recover the photos but had no luck. I even sent the card to someone in Germany to recover the photos but he couldn’t do it. Something about the controller in PNY cards Not allowing access. I will never use another PNY card. Murphy’s Law at work. I knew better and got burned. Live and learn.

I don't know if it has been fixed but Nikon Transfer would fail to copy all the files from the memory card to the computer. I got in the habit of counting the number of files on card and comparing it to the total files in the staging folder.

Hi Ralf glad you have your images back, nice relief. A few weeks ago I formated a card before downloading but didn’t realise until I had reused it.

I open the folder on the desktop and manually drag the images over. I don’t use any Nikon software.

I am trying to do a better job of using the U1, U2, and U3 settings on my Z6 and do you know what? The command right above the "Save to User Setting" is "Format Memory Card" and yes I did it. In a hurry, while talking to someone (at my age a dangerous combination) I formatted the memory card when I wanted to save to user settings. Fortunately I remembered this post!

Thank you so much for making this error a week or so before I did, I learned from it! Well not to not do it, but how to recover from it.

Thanks for the Recuva suggestion! I was traveling when I made the error and downloaded the free version and it worked great.

Thanks to you both!
