Is it just the Apple 4k codecs or does H.265 10 bit 8k also use 422 chroma sampling? Any other codecs? Seems to be some contradictory information out there or maybe it changed in a firmware release. Thanks!

ProRes 422 HQ is the only 4:2:2 codec available for the Z8 and Z9. Looking at page 191 of the Z8 Reference Guide, the H265 10 and 8 bit options are all 4:2:0 codecs.
You could also shoot in raw (either Nikon or ProRes) and then convert to 4:2:2 but that seem to be an unnecessarily complex way to get a 4:2:2 file when you can record ProRes 422HQ direct to camera.

Suggest shooting at 4:4:2 and at 4:4:0 and comparing the two. Doubt you will see a noticeable difference between the two even at 4K.
