Hi, thanks for submitting your egret to this forum. Sometimes you get viewer’s subjective impressions but hopefully some valuable suggestive thoughts. Usually more of the later. Egrets are difficult because they are white making exposures difficult or tricky at best. When I want to photograph these guys exposure compensation is an important tool. The background here appears to be a mudflat and very contrasty to your bird. The high angle of the shot exacerbates the problem. Try again using a lower angle to minimize the mudflat and select a better background.
