A puddle of my own …
I've read that "small aquatic animals" are this heron's preferred prey: if you move, you're a snack! And, if you don't move, there's a set of long toes waiting to stir you up.
Little frogs—we have some really big ones, too—are also fair fare, as are lizards and careless insects. Photographers are ignored!
