I find Lake Tahoe to be a bit like Disneyland these days...lots of people, traffic and overpriced everything. So I went to Donner lake which isn't that far away and is much less crowded and I find that the photo ops are much better. I spotted this White-headed woodpecker flitting about and decided to keep an eye on him to see what he was up to. He kept going back to a tree stump so I quietly moved over to where I could see what he was up to and found him stuffing his mouth with big fat termites. The termites were so plentiful that the woodpecker didn't want to leave, even when he couldn't possibly hold anymore in this beak. He had quite a feast for about half an hour.

Excellent!👍👍👍

Farther from the casinos, I guess. LOL.

Great shot with the ants on the old wood! Well captured.
Thanks Woody. Distance from the Casinos used to matter; less crowded north shore, a veritable zoo on south shore. Now it seems it's crowded no matter where you are on the lake. I mean like crazy, out of control crowded.
