Yes, I like the 50 for a couple of reasons. First, as mentioned above, it allows getting closer to the subject when working in a limited space and allowing capture of more of the subject than you would get with the 105 at the same distance.
It is also the only 50mm lens I own, incase I need it for other purposes. I have mostly zooms, but have found the 50 to be helpful in other situations including landscape, etc. Furthermore, the 50 can be used with the ES-2 kit to photograph negatives and slides for digitzing. And, I have a lot of those dating back a few (50) years. The reviews sy it is not a sharp as the 105 but it works great for what and how I shoot and that I generally only print for photobooks so the sharpness is just fine.
