The following is a series of three version of a photo taken on a recent trip to White Sands.
Shot 1 - What I saw in my minds eye and emotions I experienced on the ground. With extensive work in PS/LrC. This is a piece of digital art now.
Shot 2 - What I did on a first pass through LrC only with some distractions removed and adjustments/masks to a point. This conveys the emotions and experience at that wonderful park with a beautiful but not spectacular sunset.
Shot 3 - The raw file as imported from the camera prior to any adjustments. This starting point is "flat" and does not resemble what I saw, but is what the camera recorded given its settings at that moment.
If I print something to hang on the wall, it will be the first shot!

Nice, finished pic and demonstration of the difference between what the human eye sees and what a camera sees. I often peek around the side of my camera to get the exposure to match what I actually see. Seems to help in prevented the whites from getting blown in particular circumstances.
