I have some property in West Central Texas that I live on. Photo opportunities abound. Mostly, as I go about my daily routines. These photos depict some of the dramatic, but normal occurrences in Whitetail lives. The first two images are of two young Whitetail bucks with locked antlers. I had been trenching for a waterline and had pulled up in my truck to walk to the backhoe. I heard noise and saw these two bucks, one was dead. I suppose that the live one had been laying down until I appeared. I grabbed my Z8 with the 180-600 from the truck and took a few photos. The buck began dragging the dead one through the brush. I waited a few hours and, with help, was able to sawoff the tip of one tine on the live buck. He was free, but exhausted. We backed out and left him. After a couple hours, I went to see if he was still there. He was gone. A couple weeks later, he was checking out does near my house. That is the third photo. You can see the sawn off tine on his right side. He lives!
The next three photos are of a very nice young buck on the trail of a doe. The rut is on.
I threw in a couple of photos of a young buck and a young doe. He was not far away as I was in my truck near the waterline. And, she was helping herself to some wheat that we had recently planted.
