Took a couple of days to get the Right location, had to travel from Mara main reserve into the Mara Triangle which was where they would cross towards. Although Covid has significantly reduced the number of visitors, many of those in private vehicles had positioned themselves too close to the launch and landing points which soooked the wilderness.
The herd at one point was about 20,000 but Visitors were moving around and standing on vehicle roofs which led the bulk of the herd to move to look at another site. Some guides gave advice to the worst offenders and things settled down. Most visitors moved with the large breakaway group but I stayed at the original spot and three hours later after much nervous ‘after you, no after you’ behaviour from the wildebeest i was lucky enough to see a modest sized crossing. The dust does give the images a drawing like appearance. First time I have seen the migration.
