I understand that if I get the Wimberly Monopod Gimbal MH-100, I need to change the foot on my Nikon lens collar. Will the above setup work? Any other alternatives.
Thanks much...

Thanks for your reply. The MH-100 works with an Arca Swiss compatible foot/plate. I don't believe the Kirk LP-70 will work with your lens (since the 180-600 integrates the collar with the lens foot).
To use the MH-100, you'll either need to add an Arca Swiss plate to the bottom of your OEM lens foot, or purchase a replacement collar/lens foot combo that is Arca Swiss compatible.
Thanks for your reply.
I'm confused though. Isn't the Kirk LP-70 a replacement foot? I thought you remove the current foot from the Nikon collar and attach the Kirk LP-70 instead which is Arca Swiss and then attach the MH-100 to that. "The LP-70 Lens Foot from Kirk slides directly into the collar mount of the Nikon Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S, Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S, Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S, and Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S lenses, locking into place by tightening the locking knob. The lens foot is compatible with most Arca-type clamps and heads, and the double-dovetail design allows other Arca-type accessories to attach to the bottom or the top of the foot. " What am I missing?
If so, the next question is if will work with will work with the 180-600..... ?
Thanks again,
On the 180-600 lens, the foot and collar are an integral unit. Your choices are to attach an arca-swiss compatible plate to the original lens foot or purchase a replacement collar/foot. To the best of my knowledge only Kirk has a replacement. RRS has one under development but it's not shipping yet. Thanks for your reply.

Thanks much for your answers. I understand now You've helped me a lot... Thanks for the link too.Nope, that's the point that I tried to convey in my earlier post.
The 180-600 has a different lens foot configuration than the other lenses that you mentioned.
Here are the compatible options for your lens from the Kirk website: Z 180-600mm F/5.6-6.3 VR

Thanks much again. You guys give out so much great info. I wish I could give some back, but I am just not in the know about these kinds of things. Please know you are appreciated.Mounting a plate to a foot with only one screw hole can be problematic in that the plate can rotate. The Kirk plate, however, has a positionable bar to prevent rotation. Also, the foot on the 180-600 has two holes, one 1/4 x 20 and one 3/8 x 16. Get a bushing for the 3/8 hole and use two 1/4 x 20 screws to mount the plate. (Kirk has plates that come with 2 screws.) The plate will be very solidly mounted then with no possibility of rotation.
Yes, the generic lens plate attachment should work the same on the other lenses that you mention. Thanks much again. You guys give out so much great info. I wish I could give some back, but I am just not in the know about these kinds of things. Please know you are appreciated.
I understand about the screws. Will this set up (the Kirk plate using the 2 screws and the MH-100) then work on the Nikon Z 180-600, the 100-400, the 400 4.5 and potentially the 600? Will I need anything else?

The plate should work on all of those lenses as I believe they all have two holes in the foot. Thanks much again. You guys give out so much great info. I wish I could give some back, but I am just not in the know about these kinds of things. Please know you are appreciated.

Another choice. Thanks much for the info. Now I have to decide which one....I use a Hejnar M1-500 plate with the removeable ridge attached. The five inch plate fits my hand well when I hand carry the rig, gives me plenty of room to balance my rig on the MH-100 and also provides two screw attachment points for stability.

Interesting. And it's the least expensive option at $49 - IF I got the right one here: https://www.amazon.com/Haoge-LMR-Z1...24e4bc4df28d39e69682def051d30547&gad_source=1I use the replacement collar from Haoge, there’s a similar one from ishoot. I use it with the wimberley monogimal…the image shows the fit is slightly rearward as it’s balanced on the z8.

It’s the right one for the z180-600:because it replaces the entire collar. It will not work with those other lenses… with those only the foot can be removed, not the collar.Interesting. Do you know if that will also work with the z 100-400, the 400 4.5 and the 600 PF?
OK, I got it now. I knew I could remove the feet on the other lenses, but thought I could remove the whole collar too. I will get the Haoge when I order the 180-600... which I am a hair away from doing Thanks much for all the info and putting up with all the questions. PS: FYI, in the Z100-400 manual, it refers to the foot as the "Removing the Tripod Collar"It’s the right one for the z180-600:because it replaces the entire collar. the replacement foot is this one
Kirk LP-70 lens foot Nikon Z 100-400mm 4.5-5.6 VR S
This replacement foot has a most convenient built-in Arca Swiss type plate, a very easy to grip captive locking knob and the ability to quick release it from the lens like the original Nikon foot.www.photoproshop.com
with the z100-400, like the z70-200 the collar rotates and a foot attaches to that collar. You can replace the foot. With the z180-600 the foot isn’t separate from the collar, it’s one integrated unit. You need to either replace the collar or use a plate that you can attach to the foot. Some prefer one method to the other. Users’ Choice. I got the Haoge because I wanted the QD socket.
That looks like a good option too. Thanks!I didn’t want to give up the strap lugs on the standard 180-600 tripod collar and didn’t feel I needed a longer plate either. I opted for the Hoage QR-70S plate which has both 1/4” and 3/8” screws and is a very secure and stable fit.
A bit off topic, but I’m looking to upgrade my monopod for use with my Z8+180-600. I like the set-up in your photo with the legs. Could you tell me about it and your panning experience/technique with it? Thanks.I use the replacement collar from Haoge, there’s a similar one from ishoot.
