These photographs of Wood Ducks are some of my favorites taken about a year ago, in a location where a handful of Wood Ducks return each year. This small body of water in the middle of a residential area becomes very popular about the third week of October. Looking forward to seeing and photographing these beautiful creatures again soon.

Love wood ducks and love the photos.
I had never seen a wood duck in person until I took these photos. I asked a local photographer I know where he took his wood duck photographs, and he gave me this location. After researching it I saw that there was an article in a Denver paper about it, so it's not exactly a secret. The first photo was taken with the duck on land and I had to back away from it to get it in focus. Some people feed the ducks and geese, so when I was standing in an area where they started sprinkling food the wildlife appeared all around me. It was surreal, I stood very still and had multiple wood ducks walking around me three feet from me. That changed a week later when a large group of photographers began showing up as the colors changed. The red and orange reflections are from trees changing color.
