They are native to South America, but have been introduced in Hawaii. They aren’t actually cardinals, but commonly called that because they resemble the red crested cardinal also from South America that is the same color pattern, but with a crest. They’re actually in the tanager family.Beautiful bird!, Not familiar with this species![]()
