Thanks. Yeah, already did that, and didn't want to overdo it because it can look unnatural.... Here is a version with darker background. Is it OK?

The bird looks nice! I agree the background in the first version is a bit distracting. Was this in a controlled situation, like at a water source?

I appreciate the feedback. This was an uncontrolled bird in the wild.

The difference in the second version is subtle. I could have gone farther with it. I'm mindful of Nature Photography rules that say the photo must reflect reality. Of course we don't have to follow those rules here. Either way, I would want the pic to look natural.

Obviously this isn't always possible in the wild but if the bird visits a particular twig often it might be possible to position yourself for a less-cluttered background.

Agreed... and if that doesn't work with this bird, then another bird. I just posted a cardinal pic and I think it has a nicer background.

Agree with the Cardinal background. I like having some sense of habitat, as the Cardinal photo has, rather than a completely blurred background.
