This was one of those dumb luck situations. Few of us were driving to a location for a landscape shot. I happened to be riding shotgun and had my 400mm on my Z8 just in case we spotted any wildlife. Sure enough this young bobcat ran across the road and into the woods. We stopped quick and I jumped out as the bobcat was bounding up the hill in the woods. I whistled and he stopped to look back. Nice kitty! Was very small, so assuming not very old.
