It's certainly sharp. I would have liked more breathing room in the direction it was facing, feels crowded in that direction.

Is this a composite of some kind? Part of the bird seems to be covered with that pattern and the lower right maybe has some missing parts.

Agreed on the framing. There's too much room on the right and the left side is crowded. I was so distracted by those weird patterns that I overlooked that aspect.
 
Agree with above. Bill and head a slightly overexposure and tight on the right. In spite of that, nice image, needs some TLC.

There is still something going where the body meets the background. Were you trying to get rid of overlapping foliage or is it something else? If it was overlapping foliage there might be a better way to approach it.
 
I would lift the shadows, reduce the highlights, and crop the right side of the photo a bit. There's too much space on the right. I also agree with bleirer about the background. There's also a weird artifact on its left wing where the stick ends, and an unnatural gap on its right wing. Did you try to clone out some leaves/branches that were covering the bird?
