Hi

After studying and testing camera bodies and Z lenses (S line and non-S line), upon Versatile (low size and weight), I found this is the best combination for traveling and hiking IF need to set full range of focal length and not compromising image quality (If not 10/10 at least 8/10):

Z body (I am waiting for Z7iii which will be high mp, not more than 700 gr, full featured as Z8/Z9 even latest).
Z lenses (Not S line): 17-28 f2.8+ 28-400 f4-8): Covering 17mm-400mm and good for portrait to isolate subject, capable for low light, and close focusing).

1: Total weight with a lightweight bag pack and essential accessories: Max. 3kg
2: Z7iii could be replace with coming Z5ii (of course with less features, lower mp and 2.5kg total bag pack to carry).
3. The crop-sensor combination (Kit with 2 lenses) is: Z50ii + 16-50 and 50-250 (1.5 kg bag pack)

I will be happy if you share your opinion/experince here.

Thank you

my wife and i both use the zf as a lighter weight travel set up .

we share lenses between us and use pretty much small primes on it .

anything from our 70-200f2.8 and larger goes on the z8 or z6iii

There have been no hints or rumors of a Z7iii, so you may have to wait a while for that one. Your first pair of lenses are good if max IQ (especially on the telephoto zoom) are not a major concern. If you want top quality at long end with light weight, then 400 f4.5 may be best, or for zoom 100-400 (though that one is heavier).

I use the zf as well. 26mm pancake and TT artisan 50mm f/2 (Tiny!) are my favorites with it. No bag needed, both fit in a pocket easy. The TT 50mm is wild for the price. 1035 grams. add a 70-300 Tamron for 545 grams for 1580 total. 26-300 coverage.
