Z7ii shipping now!

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

If you ordered a Z7ii, I have good news. I just got my NPS notification that mine is shipping to my dealer. So, if you ordered one, it sounds like you'll see it soon!

Geeezzzz its real easy to go right off some people   ...

Only kidding Steve - I look forward to reading the stats after you`ve put it through its paces .. Enjoy

Good. I'm very curious to see if the EVF blackout and increased buffer, along with the grip and second card (for those very few weedings I shoot) will make it worth it to me. I'm seeing nice used Z7 for $1800 to replace the Z6 that's always made me miss the matched-resolution with my D850.

Came with ftz firmware update. I'm liking this camera. Seems quicker than the Z6. Hard to tell how it shoots wildlife, it's nighttime here. Snow in this weekends forecast, should be able to tell how it does in low light on Sat. Just got done setting up all the features to mimic the Z6II. Works with Nikon NX-D as well. Negative on DXO PL4.

Z6II is now listed as compatible with DXO PL4

Yes, I just got an email to ask if I still want my pre-order---and honestly I don't know what do to! I have to decide by 4 pm tomorrow. I'm think that I might wait, as it doesn't seem like it will be that hard to get in a couple of months. I thought I'd want it for safari in February but that seems unlikely to happen now. But...its tempting...decisions....decisions!

I find this all so exciting, it might help bring price of older cameras down making me very happy.
The new mirrorless should have some very nice improvements. Look forward to your review Steve.

I opted to put my resources into the lenses for the Z line and just purchased the 70-200mm f2.8 S, I also have the 24-70mm f2.8 S and love the Z lenses (14-30 f4 s, 85 1.8 s and 35 1.8s). I have the Z6, Z6 II and Z7 with vertical grips and was contemplating selling the Z6 and Z7 to pay for the Z7 II, if the revues are good.

Well I broke down and accepted the Z7ii pre-order (they extended me until Monday.) I should get it tomorrow!

BTW...if Steve sees this...I will surely purchase the Mirrorless AF book but I'm wondering if I should wait until it's been updated with the ii models--how much has actually changed in the implementation of AF? (I know I will be able to get any revised edition at no cost but I'm wondering if the current edition will just confuse me.)

I will be putting in my order in the new year for the Z7ii - my reasoning is that this single FF body will serve as my primary camera for vacations, landscapes, and use it for still wildlife as well (given the higher MP, I can crop as needed). I've carried 2 bodies in my past travels, so thinking that the Z7ii can serve both purposes. I'll just need to carry the lens I use for wildlife/birding - until there's Z series zoom.

Thanks for your interest. There's really nothing too different as far as how the AF functions between the first and second versions of the cameras. It simply works better in the MKiis. There are a few new AF areas that you'll find in the updated book, but overall, it's the same. It's also a free update :)

That said, I'm planning to get the (free) update out soon. I have the Z7ii now and spent most of today flirting with frostbite and using the camera to see if it acts the same as the Z6ii - which so far it does. So, it shouldn't be more too long before I get the update wrapped up.

That’s what I’m thinking...the Z7II and likely the 24-200Z lens for all but action and the D7500 and 500PF for the latter.

I downloaded raw files from dpReview and played with them in ACR - I have to say those files are superb and respond very well to pretty extreme adjustments. For sure they are more forgiving than D500 files. I especially like the textures you get with the 24\70 and 70/200 f:2.8 S zooms. I am actually impressed - when all the pieces of the system come together the results are very promising.
