Z8 Random Photo Capture Dates

On a recent photography trip (June-July 2023) my wife's Z8 indicated 01/01/2000 as the capture date for 20-25 photos amongst a much larger number of images. Not a big deal and she's hoping to correct the dates in LR. (She couldn't find a way to do it in-camera). Strange nonetheless. Has anyone else experienced this?
