Hello

Instead downloading firmware update to a card in a card reader and then putting the card in the camera, can Z9 firmware be updated by downloading the bin file from the computer to the card while it is in the camera via usb cable ,

Thanks
Ray

Short answer: no.

Two solutions:
- Indeed copy the BIN via a card reader to your XQD or CF-Express B card
- as suggested here above use SnapBridge

When camera connected to PC with usb, the card is read only access, so cannot write firmware file to the card.

Snapbridge is the only alternative to upload to card via wifi and then run update step from camera.

Not that it is a bad thing, but it appears like the Snapbridge firmware update isn't available until a day or so after the update is released for download. Just FYI.
