I find the vertical lock often accidentally slips out of “lock” position when I’m working in the field,
(which is a pain when I’m trying to shoot quickly while on my stomach in the wet reeds 😳)
Since I never use the vertical controls, I’d love a menu setting that turns them off entirely.
If anyone knows how to do that, you’d be my photography hero. 😎

Yeah, people complain about the Z9 battery door as being annoying, but this vertical lock is far and away the worst implemented feature on this camera. Agreed, a menu feature to turn this thing off would be highlight of any future firmware update 😐

Yep.
Even if the vertical lock dial was more affirmative to really solidly lock, that would be fine.
(I’ve figured the battery door thing — push backwards, not forward, as you push down with your thumb. =: )
