I was house-sitting for friends. This was shot at a backyard pond. I was there long enough that I followed them from eggs to chicks. I worried about spending too much time at the nest, but one of the parents would often come and perch on my unattended tripod when I was handholding the camera, showing no agitation at all.

Between that experience and the cardinals that follow me in my own backyard, those have gotten to be my favorite birds.
