If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Could make sense if there is a stock pile of Z9 in Japan or other location and there is a shipping bottle neck, challenge at custom in a major country, .. NIkon may want first ships to be same in all major countries. Or not ..What is your source, RockvilleBob? Pushing the deliveries from 12/23 to 12/27 doesn't really make any sense to me. After all, not much is going to be happening in the retail world, especially camera stores, that weekend with Christmas on Saturday, is it?
Nope, it's not the case. It's still listed in stock, even today.
They had some disclaimer about "given the current exceptional circumstances" blah blah, but 3 weeks? I'll wait for a local shop, I have s FTZ 1 so no too much of a hurry.
Edit: tried again, and this is the message in German:
Basically, due to "shipping difficulties", whatever that means.
There seem to be shipping issues nearly everywhere. We ordered items and paid for express two-day delivery early last week and still don't have them. I'm in Florida, and one of my tracked packages was listed as delivered, but we didn't get it. An inquiry on the tracking page showed that it was delivered to an address in Wisconsin. Wisconsin,... Florida,... I can see that it would be easy to get them mixed up!Could make sense if there is a stock pile of Z9 in Japan or other location and there is a shipping bottle neck, challenge at custom in a major country, .. who was the shipping service? USPS? UPS? FedEx? i have have problem w/ all of them. There seem to be shipping issues nearly everywhere. I'm guessing that it is a retailer that spoke off of the record. My retailer of choice told me that they are getting some general updates on availability, but can't/won't share anything due to the uncertainty of the overall situation. How about a generalization of your source? Do they work for Nikon? A large camera store? are they telepathic? Ouija board? lol
UPS for the mis-delivery. Although, USPS has also been giving us issues with quick delivery. The only one of the three you list I haven't had an recent issue with is FedEX, and that's because I haven't used them in several years. The last time I did, they delivered a package worth $11,000 US and requiring a signature when no one was home. If I hadn't gotten a delivery text and went home to immediately get it inside, it likely would have been ruined in a torrential downpour that started right after I took it inside. I contacted FedEX and explained the situation, and they were insistant that someone at the house had signed for the package. The signature wasn't any from anyone I knew, and none of our neighbors signed for it, either.who was the shipping service? USPS? UPS? FedEx? i have have problem w/ all of them.
USPS honors mail holds only about 2/3 of the time, frequently late with delivery, though typically not more than a day and we get mail for other people frequently. UPS delays delivery about 1/2 the time though seldom loses a package - worse case was when travelling I order a part from RRS to be overnighted to me at a lodge. Got mishandled and never got it. Kind of ruined the rest of the trip. FedEx tends be fairly good - though last week they switched packages with a neighbor. Next day got it resolved.UPS for the mis-delivery. I would not say off their game but rather overwhelmed with a worker shortage and dealing with a large increase in deliveries due to shopping at homefedex is definitely the worst these days. but all of them appear to be off their game
I agree partially and I also understand Nikon is working through a lot of logistics.Demand is high so they need to figure out how to meet it - especially if it will take weeks or months to fill all NPS orders. Do they fill these first and alienate other customers (both photographers and stores) or split the fulfillment process to send cameras to both. Plus shipping is a mess ...One thing is for certain.... it's absolutely ridiculous that we havent heard a solid date from Nikon as to when our $5500 cameras will ship. What the hell is the big secret? Give us a date Nikon!
Meh.... I get that its logistically difficult but that doesnt mean a week or two from the release they dont have a date yet. If they cant fill all the orders, oh well order faster next time. My order (through NikonUSA) shouldnt be held up even 1 day due to some logistical judo they are trying to pull off to satisfy the retailers.I agree partially and I also understand Nikon is working through a lot of logistics.Demand is high so they need to figure out how to meet it - especially if it will take weeks or months to fill all NPS orders. Very wishfulMight be wishful thinking but, wouldn’t Nikon assume every Z9 purchase would be accompanied by a new FTZii adapter? If so, and they made the same amount, anyone who got an email that the FTZ is shipping should be in the first wave of Z9 deliveries! Again, wishful thinking.

My comment was on why a delay on the delivery date. Not paranoid but speculating on the reason for the delay (logistical challenges)Ah, the great internet paranoid theory at its best (Worst).
I would not feel any better and my wife would think that I am more crazy than she does already (if that sentence makes sense). Rather perhaps a polite request to NPS for information about the delivery date ...I think it will help if everyone goes out on their patio at 0200 Zulu every day and screams loudly, in unison and solidarity, until they get their delivery.
I've tried it and I feel much better.

I'm a bit anxious, but likely nowhere nearly as so as those who had to pay the whole cost of the camera or a significant deposit up front for the camera. I only put down a $100 refundable deposit, which is less than some people pay for coffee each month! One thing is for certain.... it's absolutely ridiculous that we havent heard a solid date from Nikon as to when our $5500 cameras will ship. Nikon Japan says the date is the 24 Dec. If you read Japanese or use Chrome which will translate, here is the infoMeh....
