Could be my computer...Or maybe my imagination. I haven't been quantitative about it.
I have not noticed this going through a card reader.
If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Are there any "serious", credible tests comparing lossless compressed and HE* out there?

Stills photography will always have a place, just that video will get more popular with mirrorless & it has. Instagram is the best proxy barometer...but it will truly take off when Instagram improves its video compression...currently, it is terrible...once that gets better more people will get on board...
NEW Canon EOS R5 C Mirrorless Cinema Camera
And they say still photography as we know it is not becoming obsolete.................as it will all come from Video in the very near future..........
Great to hear C1 is doing ok with the files... i was planning to download the trial and give it a go and by the end hoping DXO has released the update for Z9.I’m using CaptureOne and the files seem fine there. I’m happy with what I’m seeing, similar to Z7ii but cleaner noise (my impressions, not testing or direct comparisons). There were other mentions of Adobe not working the best at this time.
It's fairly decent now, but I wouldn't say as good as something like Topaz Denoise. It wasn't the best when I first began using it after switching from LR6.Great to hear C1 is doing ok with the files... i was planning to download the trial and give it a go and by the end hoping DXO has released the update for Z9.
Curiously, what is the NR like on C1?
Thanks Brian, i own Topaz, but since my computer crashed i haven't reloaded it as i use DXO. I'll probably reload it also and use a combination. It's fairly decent now, but I wouldn't say as good as something like Topaz Denoise. Admittedly, I haven't looked at the R5C, but I thought there were reasons that video wasn't just 24 or 30 or 60 or 120 stills stitched together and that pulling frames from video typically isn't nearly as good as a still image.
Super annoying. I have two and they both make the sound. I thought maybe it was a fan inside. In the USA and using the provided power supplies, not another form of USB power. Can others confirm, the new charger with the Z9 makes a very quiet clicking sound when idle? I have since unplugged, just would like to confirm if it's normal.
Hello Kumar ,I checked it out. Does not make any noise. I am in india. Wonder if supply voltage makes a difference.
I'm also noticing some odd behaviour in LR. As far as I know Z9 support was added awhile back and only claimed to be "preliminary". I actually have access to the Prerelease program for LR so I'm way ahead of the regular release and I can't recall any notes in the release notes that said full Z9 support yet....although I may have missed it as I get new releases fairly regularly and often don't check the release notes.
The jpeg previews I see in LR before entering Develop module are looking much nicer than what LR is pulling off. I find that my normal sharpening and NR defaults that I've been using for every camera for years are not working well on the Z9 but I don't know why that is?? Maybe just because I've had to shoot very high ISO during my first 3 days testing. I'll reserve further judgement till I shoot in good light this weekend.

No I did not. It is the usb charger. I probably misunderstood the question raised by Darwin. Did not realize that he was referring to the external charger.Hello Kumar ,
Did you get a battery charger with your Z9 in India? I didn't get any with mine only a USB c charger which directly charges the battery when it's in the body. Nikon says the BIS standard approval couldn't come for the charger
What's the general impression of the Z9 auto focus tracking (eye in particular) vs the Sony A1? Not trying to flame, or start anything. I'm waiting on my unit to ship. Jst curious if the system is operating better than some of the comparison videos I've watched where it still seemed to be struggling a bit.
probably the most realistic answer you'll get at this point is the a1, r3 and z9 are in the same ballpark
