Male Common Blue Butterfly resting on a grass seed head. The coastal fringe here between the stony beach and the interior agricultural land is full of natural grasses, herbs and wild flowers, and is a protected nature reserve-- consequentially there are good numbers of butterfly species here as this land does not have pesticides or herbicides applied to it. The Gobbins is the coastal cliff walk which was opened here in 1902 and became more popular worldwide with tourists than the Giant's Causeway. Puffins, Gannets, Guillemots, Kittiwakes and Shag all nest here on the cliffs above the walkway. Although recently refurbished this walk is currently closed due to Covid restrictions !
