Even the birds recoginize what a lousy birder I am; here a Red-tailed Hawk (I think ) makes ID-ing him a bit easier.

Thanks much. I spent about 40 minutes waiting for him to fly as he was just sitting there. He never did fly away while I stayed with him but he did at least start to preen and gave me this interesting poseVery nice image and posture!
Thanks much, Ira.Nice image Steven, looks like he is proud of his red tail.
Thank you!Great shot , not a feather out of place !!
HA. I truly never know what I'm looking at , certainly the little guys, until I get home and try to ID them LOL"what a lousy birder I am"... You're too modest

Thanks. A couple of times he scratched some down feathers free and he'd watch them drift past him; very comical.I love seeing bird personalities shine through images. Nicely done!
Thanks, and thanks for the break on my bird ID-ing skillsNice behavior shot. And, yes, hawks are often really hard to ID.
Thanks Karen!Your perseverance earned you a nice shot!
Thanks.Love the pose! Gotta keep those feathers preened!
Thank you!Nice!
Thanks Louis.Interesting pose and terrific shot Steven.
Only often…seems like most of the time to me because a lot of them look almost identical…but then again mebbe I'm just not that good of a birder.Nice behavior shot. And, yes, hawks are often really hard to ID.
I'd be nothing without my bird ID appOnly often…seems like most of the time to me because a lot of them look almost identical…but then again mebbe I'm just not that good of a birder.
Yeah…between Peterson’s and a couple of others we usually figure out what it is…although not always in the field and both wife and I look at the images to check. Between breeding and non, juvie and adult and in between, and random differences in a species a lot of the time it’s just hard to decide…particularly when this characteristic says xxx and this characterization says yyyI'd be nothing without my bird ID app
