Little birds are all around at the cottage at the moment, together with biting mosquitoes, black fly, and deer fly.
Saturday morning before breakfast I decided to get some images of the little guys. I really had to use the insect repellent liberally on every piece of open skin. I was sitting on a deck chair watching the surrounding trees for birds, expecting to make images of stationary perched birds when the little hummer came to visit a nearby wildflower. Shutter speed was way too low for the circumstances, but the Z8 locked on like a champ.
Next was an American Redstart that lives in the trees around the cottage. He is there every spring and summer, but it's hard to get a good image of him in the foliage. Again, the Z8 came through. The ability of this camera to lock onto a subject in the foliage and maintain focus is so much better than what I was able to get with the Z6II.
