My backyard isn't nearly as interesting as some of yours!

The thing is, the photography hobby causes me to pay more attention, and discover that much more beauty and fascination exists in my immediate surroundings than I otherwise would know. It’s a way to be more connected with the world just outside my door. This Checkerspot butterfly is an example of something that wouldn’t normally get much notice if I wasn’t looking to capture an image.

Tonight's backyard visitor shot through the kitchen window. I'm guessing flycatcher. I sent this photo to a couple of birding friends and think that I started an argument on identification. This was taken in Southwest Ohio if anyone wants to take a guess on who this is.

I am not certain but some sort of flycatcher I think, maybe a juvenile black phoebe????
Great shot!

You can not post a photo of a House Sparrow on a birding group without a bunch of griping and death threats...lol. Hopefully it is ok to do so here.

@Hut. We as humans are supposed to be at the top of the food chain but after thousands of years of so called progress, we still haven't invented a way to stop hatred. You won't get any threats from me because all animals (including humans) and birds are God's children. In the words of that famous song, "Everything is beautiful, in its own way"
