I was just asking for timeline clarity on another thread and we got this:
The official announcement is expected in the next 2 months, but do not expect many cameras to ship before the end of the year. Because of part shortage, the waiting time for the Z9 is expected to be very long.
That has the merit of being clear. And talking to my own supply chain folks, they see major tightness in components lasting through end of June 2022 at the earliest (and that assumes no massive disruption from a new variant). So Christmas 2022 availability for us poor non-NPS by-standers?
As expected the developing spec list says Nikon is making the Z9 into a statement and the price is aligned with that - in absolute it is a high price but it's not out of line based on where it will compete. I wish there was a bit more info on the AF overall but I can't imagine they'd have anything below state of the art in a camera with that spec list, we'll just have to wait till the next list of leaks.
I just don't know that I want to wait another year + to put my hands on one.
