I use my monopod in the manner of a flag carrier harness.
I looked at various flag carriers but I ended up buying a harness made for upper body stabilization used by rock climbers.
Wht I like about this type of harness is that it puts the load on both shoulders and not on the neck.
This is an example of what I mean;

There are many variations of the theme, in fact what got me going this way was the fact that you see new parents all the time carrying their babies in the same way on their chests.
I just use a carabiner to join the ends on the front and ,made a foot carrier for the monopod from a PVC plumbing pipe end cap suspended from the carabiner with cord.
I can vary the length and it takes the weight on my shoulders.
Makes it easy to focus on a subject that you are waiting to do something.
This harness is my daily use and has replaced my Black Rapid strap that I have.

Haven't tried it but a relatively cheap alternative is Oben's monopod pouch which fits on your belt.
Yes, I've seen that, I suppose I could attach my PVC pipe end to my belt but with a chest harness, (as in the link), I am carrying the weight on both shoulders rather than my belt.
I suppose I can also put my belt around the the PVC socket to hold it in place although I find the setup pretty steady as is.
A tripod it isn't but it lets me stay on a subject waiting for action a lot longer than I can hand hold and is a lot more mobile.
