I use my monopod in the manner of a flag carrier harness.
I looked at various flag carriers but I ended up buying a harness made for upper body stabilization used by rock climbers.
Wht I like about this type of harness is that it puts the load on both shoulders and not on the neck.

There are many variations of the theme, in fact what got me going this way was the fact that you see new parents all the time carrying their babies in the same way on their chests.
I just use a carabiner to join the ends on the front and ,made a foot carrier for the monopod from a PVC plumbing pipe end cap suspended from the carabiner with cord.
I can vary the length and it takes the weight on my shoulders.
Makes it easy to focus on a subject that you are waiting to do something.
This harness is my daily use and has replaced my Black Rapid strap that I have.
