@Ken Miracle Congratulations! Nikon rumours just reported that there's going to be a firmware update for the Z6/7 ii's with AF and EVF improvements. Af improvement was something that was expected but I'm quite pleasantly surprised to see EVF improvements being a possibility. Always thought EVF improvements were mostly all hardware related.

If I am remembering correctly, Fujifilm improved EVF blackout on the X-T3 with firmware. Not sure what Nikon has planned, but it is a nice surprise to see EVF improvement noted.

Used Z6II today to photograph a rare for our location Williamson's Sapsucker a lifer for me in birder terms ... 500 PF with 1.4 TC worked far better on the Z with the TC than my D6, D850 or D500 ... It should rock on the Z9.

I went birding yesterday 2-8-22 for the first time with my back up Z6II and the Z100-400 and the 1.4 TC ... some shots from the birding outing.

With my last pre-pandemic trips it was great to have both cameras using the same XQD cards and EN-EL18 batteries and battery charger. I could go a couple of days on a single battery and no more having to keep watch on a couple of battery chargers during the night.

It is unfortunate that with the Z7 II the battery grip only holds a second EN-EL15 battery and uses only one at a time. The grip for the D850 holds the EN-EL18 battery that lasts a great deal longer as well as enabling a higher fps rate. When I saw that the Z7 II was far less valuable to me for use alongside the Z9. Good news for Nikon as I will end up buying a second Z9 later in the year.

Up to 10-28 when I sold the D6 and D500 I had grips with the EN EL 18 batteries on my D500 and D850 and the D6 used the same batteries. The D6 used two CFexpress B cards and the D500 and D850 a CFExpress B in one slot recording raw and the fastest SD cards I could find in the second slot that I used as backup with jpg fine.

I just opened the box for the MB-N11 battery grip for the Z6II ... I got it primarily for the extra depth it adds to the camera besides it will be longer lasting with two batteries but would have preferred the same option I have with the D850 and being able to use the EN EL 18 along with a backup EN EL 15 in the camera :)

Who knows maybe my wife will want to upgrade from her Z50 and I end up with a second Z9 down the road :)

I never expected to own three bodies but I have ended up with a Z6ii, Z7ii and Z9. The Z6ii is a wonderful low light camera that is a great for events and studio portrait works. Skin tones with S glass are beautiful. This replaced a D750. The Z7ii has the resolution and lightweight to be a nearly perfect landscape camera. I replaced a D850 that I kept for wildlife work until the Z9 arrived. The Z9 is the best action/sports camera I have ever used. Faster than my D5, better subject tracking than my D850 and perfect ergonomics for my hands. I have no experience with the D500 but cropping the D850 images was a similar, very good experience for wildlife.

Looking forward to getting the Z9 some day :) So far I like the Z6II for what I got it for.
